Didn't want you to think we were going to leave the trail the way it is. You've probably noticed the erosion at the base of the hill on Tall Pines Shortcut and the puddles of water next to the trail. Trail Dynamics will fix these problems when they come back. They will also surface more trail. They are taking a break from the Tallahassee heat and working up north.
The sand was nice for when it was wet. You can't really mess up sand. Now that the trail's packed with clay it's going to get destroyed when it gets ridden during/after it rains. Oh well, I plan exploring the Apalachicola forest roads/trails. Wish the peeps who are laying the pipeline would keep the bridge across the creek next to Crawfordville Rd. I haven't found another spot where I could park to reach the forest.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was surprising to see the washout at the bottom of the shortcut. I don't know how it will weather, but the swoopy speed on some of the improvements is fun.
ReplyDeleteDid Trail Dynamics ever return like they were supposed to? There are some areas on the trail that still need to be addressed.
